The Bosman Family have been vine growers in Wellington for 8 generations, their proud heritage forming the bedrock from which innovation and sustainability are a natural progression. The Bosman motto is “dedicated to better”, meaning all aspects of their business. Making great wines, taking care of the environment, the people and their community.
Petrus Bosman, running the family estate today, has together with Corlea Fourie, the talented and creative winemaker, made an impressive portfolio of wines that are recognized all over the world. In the area of Wellington, part of the Coastal Region, the Bosman family have several beautiful vineyards and it is in this area they produce their single vineyard wines. The Optenhorst, the Fides and the Twyfeling. Optenhorst, the histortic, second oldest, vineyard, planted with Chenin Blanc in 1952 is one of the most awarded Chenin Blancs from South Africa and it is a wine certified as a Heritage Vineyard. The Fides Grenache Blanc is what they call a white orange wine. Meaning this is made with skin contact. It was actually a wine lighter in colour the first vintages, but now, after using a longer period of skin contact, it has a more deep orange colour. Twyfeling Cinsaut is from a heritage site for Cinsaut, first planted in 1964. Todays bush vines, called “Hermitage-Kop” were planted in 2003. All the single vineyards are made with spontaneous fermentation, gentle use of oak and little or no filtration.
From the famous cool climate region Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley they make their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The Bosman portfolio also includes quality sparkling wines. An MCC made from grapes from Wellington, called Loose Canon, and a Pet´Nat Weisser Riesling made from grapes from Upper Hemel-en-Aarde.
